In February 2008 Senior Momentum exhibited the first in a proposed series of Memory Quilts at Rosny Library.

small quilt There were two components to the project: quilts made with materials chosen by people with varying degrees of memory loss, stitched with the help of their carers, staff and volunteers, and works produced by a group of textile artists on the theme of Memory.

Pieces in this exhibition include quilts by members of Shore Street Day Centre and Alice Elliott Day Club, Day Clubs of Alzheimer’s Australia Tasmania, and works by textile artists.

QUILTS BY AND FOR PEOPLE WITH MEMORY LOSS
The three small quilts on the left are the beginning of a quilt project to promote an understanding of memory loss and Alzheimer’s Disease. Each small quilt is a patchwork of memories associated with the chosen scraps of fabric.
